Heidi Leckner. Therapist laughing with dog

Heidi Leckner, LPCC

Hi there! I am a licensed professional clinical counselor (LPCC) in West Fargo, ND with 5 years of experience in community mental health, crisis intervention, and private practice settings.

When I am not seeing clients, I am with my husband, step-children, and our two frenchton pups, Wesley and Jocko, a I lovingly added photos of on this page. You may see them snorting around the office from time to time! I love to be outside, and spend most of my days either being very active or a pile on my couch. There is no in-between.

My favorite part about being a therapist is helping clients get to the root of their challenges so they are able to live a life they are proud of. I also am a big fan of learning from others and feel drawn to my client's stories. Stories of resiliency, culture, relationship dynamics, overcoming hardship, finding connection, you name it, I'm here for it. I'd love to hear your story.

 My Approach

I use evidence based interventions in a 'real' way that feels most natural and applicable to the client so they are able to make long-term changes. No fluff, no homework (unless you really want it), and definitely no judgement. I like to incorporate humor when appropriate, and am skilled with helping clients connect to their core values. We can talk about what your goals are in therapy and I will tailor my approach to you, as long as it is within my scope. It is my goal to help you feel safe and encouraged when you are digging into difficult things and challenging yourself.

I am trained in several approaches to therapy, but some of the most consistent interventions I draw from are Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Gottman Method Couples Therapy, and the Polyvagal Theory.
